CLT-UFA Intl., Gaumont Television and Village Roadshow Pictures have teamed with South Pacific Pictures to produce “Tales of the South Seas,” a one-hour action-adventure series based on Jack London’s classic novel. Production has begun in Australia with William Snow toplining, and Marla Ginsburg and Jeffrey Hayes exec producing.
Based on the turn-of-the-century exploits of novelist Jack London, “Tales” follows the adventures of two roguish business partners fighting against injustice among the exotic Pacific South Sea Islands.
CLT-UFA Intl. and Village Roadshow Pictures Worldwide will handle international sales, with Network Ten Australia having purchased the rights in Australia. Gaumont Television will handle sales for France and French territories, with presales already negotiated with public broadcasters France 2 and France 3.
CLT-UFA Intl. is the acquisition, co-production and distribution division of the recently merged CLT-UFA, one of Europe’s largest TV and radio companies. Village Roadshow Pictures is a wholly owned subsidiary of Oz-based entertainment company Village Roadshow.
