First lady Hillary Clinton is smokin’ over Julia Roberts’s nonstop puffing in “My Best Friend’s Wedding.”
Roberts, writes Clinton in her weekly newspaper column, never stops smoking throughout the movie. She “smokes when she is upset. She smokes when she’s tired. She smokes when she’s happy,” writes the first lady.
Will Smith was also taken to task for lighting up a stogie to celebrate Earth’s victory over alien invaders in “Independence Day.” “Movie stars who puff away on the screen equate smoking with status, power, confidence and glamour,” writes the first lady. Clinton banned smoking at the White House back in 1993.
No reprimand to her own husband, though, who has been known to celebrate with a cigar and fire up a stogie while golfing.
