Cinepix Film Properties will distribute the romantic comedy “Nick and Jane” in eight major markets beginning in mid-October.
The film, directed by first-timer Rich Mauro, concerns a Lower East Side artist and taxi driver who falls in love with a high-powered executive.
James McCaffrey (“The Truth About Cats and Dogs”) and Dana Wheeler-Nicholson (“Tombstone,” “Denise Calls Up”) star in the picture, which is produced by Bill McCutchen and Cobalt Films’ Peter Quigley and Damon Barone.
Barone and Quigley are currently teaming up with Jane Gurtiza, former Bandeira Entertainment head of production, to produce Mauro’s next project, “Heaven Sent.” The romantic comedy begins lensing this summer.
After that, Cobalt plans to produce the action thriller “Night’s End,” also helmed by Mauro.
