Blethyn joins Orion’s ‘Room’

Brenda Blethyn, Golden Globe-winner for her performance in “Secrets & Lies,” has joined the cast of “Music From Another Room” for Orion Pictures.

The film is directed by Charlie Peters, from his screenplay, and is produced by Jon Bertolli, Bradley Thomas, Brad Krevoy and Steve Stabler.

Pic is a romantic comedy about a young man who has finally found his true love, a girl he has been searching for since he was a 5-year-old and she was a newborn infant.

Pic also stars Jude Law, Jennifer Tilly, Gretchen Mol, Martha Plimpton, Jon Tenney and Jeremy Piven.

Slated for release in late 1997 or early 1998, “Music From Another Room” began production this week in Los Angeles.

In addition to the Golden Globe award for best actress in a drama she won earlier this month for “Secrets & Lies,” Blethyn won best actress honors at last year’s Cannes Film Fest for her role in the film, as a working-class mother who meets the racially mixed daughter she gave up for adoption.
