Oren Aviv, who has been with Buena Vista Pictures marketing since 1991, has been promoted to senior VP of marketing and creative advertising. In the newly created post, Aviv oversees the creation of all theatrical trailers, broadcast materials, and print elements for live-action motion pictures produced and released by the film banners. He reports to BVP marketing president John Cywinski.
Aviv has worked on numerous campaigns for Disney over the years, including “Sister Act,” “Father of the Bride,” “Phenomenon,” “Ransom” and “101 Dalmatians.” He has also worked on producer Jerry Bruckheimer’s “Crimson Tide,” “The Rock,” and “Con Air.” Filmmakers who have worked with him over the years hold him in high regard.
“He’s creative, open and very secure at what he does,” said Bruckheimer. “He’s very cooperative and he never tries to slip something past you. There’s also so much clutter out there and he understands how to cut through it.”
Cywinski noted with Aviv’s filmmaker relationships and creative capability, he “is the perfect chioce to lead our creative efforts on our upcoming slate of films.
Aviv has also dabbled in film. He is an executive producer of the Caravan Pictures production “Rocket Man,” which is due out in October from Walt Disney Pictures. In addition to a story credit, Aviv was responsible for bringing the project into the studio.
