Christina Applegate — who recently wrapped her 10-year co-starring stint in the Fox TV sitcom “Married … With Children” — is set to star opposite Stefano Dionisi (“Farinelli”) in “Claudine’s Return” for Beverly Hills indie company Jazz Pictures.
The nearly $2 million pic is directed by Antonio Tibaldi, who most recently helmed “Little Boy Blue” starring Ryan Phillippe, Natasha Kinski and John Savage.
Jazz Pictures’ prexy Amedeo Ursini and Patricia Foulkrod take on producing chores, while Applegate’s manager, Tami Lynn, serves as executive producer. Pic began principal photography on Monday in Savannah, Ga.
“Claudine’s Return” is a love story about a young woman (Applegate) who shuns her wealthy family to work as a laundress at a seaside motel, and moonlights as a dancer at a local strip club.
Dionisi plays a young Italian drifter who becomes involved with the dancer. The thesp recently starred with John Turturro in “The Truce,” which screened at the Cannes Film Festival last month.
Applegate can be seen in the current releases of Tim Burton’s “Mars Attacks!” and Gregg Araki’s “Nowhere.”
