UCI is building its first multiplex in Poland in Poznan, about two hours west of Warsaw. The eight-screen, 5,000-square-meter development is part of a $100 million investment program by UCI.
UCI’s local operation, Multikino, will be multiplexing also in Warsaw, Gdansk, Szecin, Katowice, Krakow, Lodz, Wroclaw and Rydgoszcz. The Poznan plex is slated for a spring opening.
Poland still has only one screen per 50,000 people and only a handful are good screens. UCI is counting on its Polish experience to help it in the move to other Eastern Euro venues.
