Newcomers Paul Walker and Steve Van Wormer have inked as the fraternal twin leads opposite Dennis Hopper in “Meet the Deedles” for Disney, sources said Wednesday.

Walker and Van Wormer will play brothers from Hawaii forced to attend a militaristic boot camp in Utah run by a right-wing wacko played by Dennis Hopper.

First DIC production

Pic is the first production from DIC Films in its production deal with Disney. Though it made its name with animation, DIC recently started a live-action feature division with the Disney deal.

Disney will distrib the pic domestically as a negative pickup. Quadra is handling foreign rights.

Steve Boyum is helming from a script by Jim Herzfeld. Dale Pollock and Aaron Meyerson are producing. Andy Heyward of DIC is exec producer.

Hoffman overseeing

Greg Hoffman, VP of production for Disney, is the exec overseeing the project, which is expected to lens this summer in Hawaii and Utah.

Walker recently finished “Pleasantville” opposite Reese Witherspoon for New Line Cinema. His deal for “Deedles” was brokered by Scott Melrose of the Paradigm Agency. He is also repped by his manager John Carrabino.

Van Wormer’s deal was handled by his manager Seth Feldman. His most recent credit was the Arnold Schwarzenegger starrer “Jingle All the Way.”
