BOSTON — Helena Bonham Carter will be honored at the 13th annual Boston Film Festival with the showing of her latest film, “Wings of the Dove.”
More than 50 films from 15 countries are on the screening schedule for the event, which runs Sept. 5-18.
Among the filmmakers set to appear with their films are Alan Rudolph (“Afterglow”), Alain Berliner (“Ma Vie en Rose”), Sally Potter (“Tango Lesson”), Bruno Barreto (“Four Days in September”), Michael Winterbottom (“Welcome to Sarajevo”), Mark Waters (“The House of Yes”), Atom Egoyan (“The Sweet Hereafter”) and James Toback (“Two Girls and a Guy”).
Trio of openers
Set for opening night are “Afterglow,” Bart Freundlich’s “The Myth of Fingerprints” and Frank Ciota’s “The North End.”
The fest, which attracts 25,000 to 30,000 attendees over two weeks, this year won state sponsorship for the first time, and has commercial sponsors such as Loews Theatres, the Sundance Channel and American Airlines.
