In yet another attempt to create synergy between the Internet and television, Sinbad — newly installed host of Columbia TriStar Television Distribution’s latenight syndicated yakker “Vibe” — soon will be sailing the cyberseas.
The show will go live online during a taping session Thursday. During the hybrid TV/online program, cyberviewers will be able to interact with the show via computer.
Sinbad will be equipped with a lap-top PC linked to the Internet, and will select questions submitted by the Net surfers.
The online portion of the event is being organized jointly by Columbia TriStar Interactive and Excite, the Internet search engine and programming developer. Users logging into the Vibe TV chat room will be able to communicate directly with Sinbad, whose answers will be part of the regular television broadcast.
Web visitors also can log onto the Excite/Vibe TV cyber-auditorium to ask questions of show producers for behind-the-scenes action.
Should the event prove popular, Columbia TriStar likely will create encore performances, according to sources involved in the online production.
The cyber event will take place between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. at http://www.vibetv.com.
