Longtime international sales exec William J. Moraskie has ankled his post as president and chief operating officer of Capella Intl. after more than seven years as head of the company’s international operations.
While no reason was given for his departure, the parting was described as amicable.
Serving as consultant
Moraskie, according to sources, has been talking to different companies about other jobs, but has nothing definite lined up at this time. He will continue to serve for the next 12 months as a consultant to Capella on a nonexclusive basis.
Moraskie will travel with the company to the Mifed sales confab in Milan.
Moraskie is credited with overseeing the marketing of “Austin Powers,” which he acquired last year. Pic has been a box office hit for New Line domestically.
Named prexy in ’94
Moraskie was named prexy and COO of Capella in 1994, after serving four years as senior VP of sales and marketing for the firm, which serves as the worldwide sales arm of the German-backed, Hollywood-based Capella Films.
He previously worked as head of sales at InterOcean, where he worked with producer Arnold Kopelson. Before that, Moraskie handled international sales for Cannon, Carolco and Dino DiLaurentiis. His earlier posts included VP and European manager for UIP, and Latin American manager for its predecessor, Cinema Intl. Corp.
