Keith Gorham has been named to the newly created position of vice president, industrial relations, at Universal, moving up from his previous post as VP of labor relations.

Gorham will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the company’s labor relations activities, including collective bargaining agreements with entertainment unions. He will be the company’s chief negotiator in motion picture industry collective bargaining, a duty previously handled by Stuart Mandel, who has left the company.

Gorham reports to Karen Randall, senior VP and general counsel.

In a statement, Randall praised Gorham’s “strong negotiating skills, administrative expertise and solid relationships throughout the industry.”

Gorham joined U in 1984 as director of industrial relations, and in 1989 he was appointed VP of labor relations. Before that, he worked as a counsel for the Alliance of Motion Picture & Television Producers, and as an attorney for the National Labor Relations Board.
