Evergreen plans merger fundraiser

NEW YORK — Evergreen Media Corp. is to raise $193 million in a placement of preferred stock to help finance its $1.075 billion acquisition of Viacom Inc.’s radio station group, the company said Tuesday. Evergreen is due to merge with Chancellor Broadcasting later this year.
