Allen at home with ICM

Comedian/Actor signs first-ever contract

Signing with an agency for the first time in his career, actor/comedian Tim Allen has inked with International Creative Management, where he and his production banner, Boxing Cat Prods., will be repped by percentery chairman Jeff Berg and president Jim Wiatt.

Allen, who is currently completing his seventh season of “Home Im-provement” for ABC, has never had an agent. His “Home Improvement” pact as well as his film outings have been negotiated by his attorney Dennis Ardi, who will continue to rep the actor. Allen also continues to be managed by Richard Baker and Rick Messina.

“Tim Allen is one of those rare stars who has managed to forge a complementary film and television career,” Wiatt said. “ICM’s resources will be well suited to building his business.”

According to Baker, Allen chose to go with an agency because he hopes to concentrate on a full-time film career.

“Over the next couple of years, Tim will be transitioning from a part-time into a full-time film career and ICM offers the resources and quality people for that,” Baker told Daily Variety.

While a contract has been drawn up for Allen to receive a reported $1.25 million per episode to star in an eighth season of “Home Improvement,” according to Baker, the former stand-up has not signed the deal and “it’s not clear whether he is committed to an eighth year or not.”

Allen has had success on the film front in the past, toplining such pics as “The Santa Clause” and “Jungle to Jungle.” He also worked with Tom Hanks on Disney’s “Toy Story,” for which he lent his voice to the character Buzz Lightyear, a toy astronaut.

Allen’s next feature, Universal’s “For Richer or Poorer,” will be released Dec. 12.
