Stuart Wilson, who starred as Sigourney Weaver’s husband in “Death and the Maiden,” has inked for “The Mask of Zorro,” the $60 million co-production of TriStar Pictures and Amblin Entertainment, sources said Wednesday.
Wilson will play Montero, the nemesis of Zorro, in the story of the legendary masked avenger who has been the subject of at least 16 previous features.
He joins Antonio Banderas in the title role and Anthony Hopkins as the elder Zorro.
Martin Campbell is helming the pic, slated to start lensing Jan. 27. Campbell previously worked with Wilson in the Ray Liotta starrer “No Escape.”
Wilson’s other feature credits include “The Rock,” “Crossworld,” “Exit to Eden,” “Age of Innocence,” “Lethal Weapon III” and “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3.”
Wilson was repped by Leslie Siebert of the Gersh Agency.
