Trimark Pictures has promoted David Van Houten to vice president of publicity and corporate communications. Van Houten, who was formerly executive director of worldwide publicity, will be responsible for managing all corporate, homevideo and new media PR for Trimark. He will report to exec VP Tim Swain.

“David will play an increasingly important role as we continue adding staff to our publicity and marketing departments during the next year to facilitate Trimark’s continuing expansion into mainstream theatrical distribution,” Swain said.

In addition to the publicity and corporate communication staff, also reporting to Van Houten will be Blair Rhodes, manager of new media.

Currently, Van Houten is heading up national publicity for the upcoming theatrical release of “Meet Wally Sparks” starring Rodney Dangerfield.

Before joining Trimark in 1994, Van Houten headed up his own consulting firm, which was later acquired by Market to Market. Before that, he was vice president of international marketing at Paramount.
