SYDNEY – Variety’s Showbiz Expo will debut Down Under on Nov. 13-15 in Melbourne.
The film, TV, multimedia, video and advertising production expo will be held in conjunction with the annual Screen Producers Assn. of Australia (SPAA) confab and the Australian Film Institute (AFI) Awards, the Oz equivalent of the Oscars and Emmys.
The SPAA conference is the premier event on the film and TV calendar Down Under, attracting more than 650 producers, directors, TV execs, writers and agencies.
“It’s good news,” said AFI chief exec Ruth Jones with reference to the launch of the Variety Showbiz Expo. “SPAA and the AFI have worked well together. It’s already a valuable combination; this just makes the package better.”
