Paramount Domestic Television’s “Real TV” has received nine upgrades in large and mid-sized markets, and a handful of double runs and new sales. Separately, King World’s two newsmags were upgraded in San Francisco.
In San Francisco, “Real TV” is receiving a double run in the 6:30 p.m. access slot on KOFY, starting in January. Also in January, King World’s “Inside Edition” and “American Journal” are moving from latenight to the 4 p.m.-5 p.m. block on KPIX, replacing the canceled “Day & Date.”
Heading for fringe
In Baltimore, “Real TV” in January will move to early fringe on the CBS O&O WJZ. Paired with “Hard Copy” between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m., the two shows also replace “Day & Date.”
In Cincinnati, “Real TV” is moving to WKRC in January, where it will air in early fringe and replace a second run of “Inside Edition.” Right now it airs during latenight on WCPO. In Kansas City, the show is moving from latenight on KCWB to early fringe on WDAF, replacing “Extra.” Also, in Norfolk, “Real TV” will move into the 7:30 p.m. access slot from latenight on WGNT.
Other upgrades were in markets such as Greensboro, N.C.; Mobile, Ala., and in Dallas. The show also was sold for the first time in Fresno, Calif., and Sioux City, Iowa. The clearance upgrades were announced by Joel Berman, president of distribution at PDT.
Meanwhile, Par is staging a contest between general managers of stations that air “Real TV” for the best videoclip submissions, and winners will be chosen at NATPE. Berman also said Par will announce firm go for “Real TV” at NATPE.
