LONDON – David Aukin has named head of film at Channel 4 after six years as the minority web’s head of drama.
The change reflects the rapid expansion of Channel 4’s film activities, which previously formed just one part of Aukin’s broader responsibilities. But now he will concentrate solely on movies, while his deputy Peter Ansorge will now be in charge of series and serials with the title of senior commissioning editor, TV drama.
Channel 4 will be investing $160 million in films over the next five years. Its recent successes include “Trainspotting,” “Secrets & Lies” and “Brassed Off.”
