GOOD MORNING: Barbra Streisand, fresh from Pasadena, and Jeff Bridges, fresh from South Africa, got together in Beverly Hills, at Barbra’s house Monday ayem after the Emmys, to ready the Oct. 6 start of “The Mirror Has Two Faces.” Bridges just wound “White Squall” in Africa — the pic may get a one-week Oscar contention release this year. He also has “‘Wild Bill” coming out Dec. 1. As already noted here, Lauren Bacall plays Streisand’s (yenta-like) mother and possible additions to the cast include Pierce Brosnan, Dudley Moore, Mimi Rogers , Brenda Vaccaro. The romantic comedy by scripter Richard LaGravenese has both leads playing never-married Columbia U. teachers, both insecure about a romance and — afraid of each other … What are Mike Wallace, Judge Robert Bork, Pierre Salinger, Nina Totenberg, Steve Adler, Helen Thomas, C.O.R.E.’s Roy Innis, Vince Bugliosi and five ex-O.J. trial jurors doing together in front of the cameras? All are discussing the jury system, cameras in court, sequestration, etc. “It’s beyond just the O.J. trial,” said Deborah Raffin from N.Y. where, with Nina Foch , she’s co-directing Dove’s “The Verdict: Justice on Trial” for syndication and/or videocassette. Whether the above principals will vote on the guilt or innocence of Simpson “is being debated now,” Raffin said …”Often when the lack of diversity is practiced by the entertainment business, it makes news,” Par’s Brian Bradford reminds. “I thought that it should be acknowledged when studios and producers are truly open to the most qualified individual regardless of race or sex.” Thus, he told me the returning CBS show “The Marshal,” an action, male-oriented program, now has two “well-qualified African-American women, Janice Cooke-Leonard as co-producer and Faye Cottrell as associate producer.” Congrats … And for the first time, NBC’s “Miss America” contest will have a femme announcer — she’s Randy Thomas — who also announced the Oscars.

MARY PICKFORD’S FILM LIBRARY has been acquired by Trans-Atlantic Entertainment from the Pickford Foundation. Bob Bennett and Paul Rich, chairman and prez/CEO, respectively, say they will do extensive (and expensive) restoration of her 40 films and 225 shorts, and for the first time they will be distributed internationally. The movies include “Poor Little Rich Girl,” “Pollyanna,” “Little Lord Fauntleroy” and “Stella Maris”… Brandon Tartikoff, who has always secretly wanted to host a talkshow, will do so for one night, Saturday on CNBC’s “Talk Live,” 6-7 p.m. with guests Steven Bochco, Warren Littlefield and standup comedian Drew Carey (on ABC this fall). Brandon and wife Lilly are returning from their annual Hawaii vacation before the fall season’s start. Two Tartikoff shows bow this week –“The Mark Walberg Show” and “Strange Luck”– and Brandon’s ABC family drama “Second Noah” goes into production next week … Bruce Willis and Bruce Dern start work this week in New Line’s “Gundown ,” the gangster story set in the Texas prohibition era, which writer-director Walter Hill adapted from Akira Kurosawa’s 1961 samurai epic “Yojimbo”– which was loosely inspired by Dashiell Hammett’s 1929 “Red Harvest.” Willis plays the mysterious gun-for-hire (Toshiro Mifune’s role in Kurosawa’s pic) and Dern’s the town’s corrupt sheriff.

THE FAITHFUL FANS OF ANGELA LANSBURY and “Murder, She Wrote” have been writing her to inform they will tape her show now airing Thursdays on CBS, but will watch it on Sundays as usual!
