GOOD MORNING: The “O.J. Bunch” takeoff on “The Brady Bunch,” complete with the opening credit squares, is so successful, the “Tonight Show With Jay Leno” plans more of same — soon as the “Brady Bunch’s” Florence Henderson is free from her singing tour of Florida. And, the “Dancing Ito’s” takeoff with Leno may lead to “Dancing Marcias”– and who knows, “Dancing Baileys?”… Meanwhile, David Lee, a writer’s assistant on “Tonight” who plays Ito, is now getting commercial offers. And non-pro George Clark, the Johnnie Cochran lookalike on the “O.J. Bunch” is also getting offers … Henderson, meanwhile, SRO on her Florida tour (for “excellent money”) following the opening of “The Brady Bunch Movie,” tells me she’s gotten a request to guest on Oprah. And has been asked to be on CBS’ “The Brady Bunch 25th Anniversary Special.” She told me Robert Reed, of the original “Brady Bunch” series, gave all the series children video cameras. “He even took them all to Europe. He was crazy about them.” Thus, there is lots of tape for the special which will have cast member Susan Olsen as an interviewer. Henderson will also star in a Mother’s Day show May 14 at Harrah’s, Las Vegas … Nicole Brown Simpson’s sister Denise Brown was shopping Thursday in Fred Hayman’s on Rodeo Drive where she bought a black beaded gown (plus two short cocktail’ers) to attend a couple of Oscar parties, she said … Larry King ringed Deanna Lund with a big sparkler. They head to Paris on the 25th … Karl Malden, on request of his agent, CAA’s Fred Specktor, sent John Goodman (also a client), who plays Mitch in the CBS version of “Streetcar,” a first edition of the play. Malden inscribed it with, “I hope you enjoy playing the role as much as I did.” And Thursday Malden (accompanied by Specktor) surprised Goodman and the rest of the cast on the set. They include Alec Baldwin in the Brando role, Jessica Lange (Vivien Leigh), Diane Lane (Kim Hunter). Glenn Jordan directs.
“THE TIME HAS COME to reintroduce superstars,” said Sol Kerzner, the legendary creator of Sun City in South Africa. You recall he brought names such as Frank Sinatra, Shirley MacLaine, Cher, Liza, etc. to the far away resort for top $ stands. Plus big purse championship boxing matches. Now here on a brief visit, Kerzner met with top talent reps, also with architects and designers who worked on his latest resort, Atlantis, Paradise Island — and plans for top entertainment there as well. Atlantis boasts the most unusual live sea experiences for vacationers — when they’re not in the casinos, that is. Kerzner stops in Las Vegas to visit with friend Steve Wynn before heading back East and also stops in Connecticut where he will build a resort on an Indian reservation a la Foxwood which boasts the world’s biggest casino. Kerzner says he doesn’t have plans “for the immediate future” to enter the Las Vegas scene, but, a man with four casinos in France, including the Ruhl in Nice in addition to the South Africa and Bahamas behemoths, cannot be counted out of any gambling resort. While here, Kerzner also took in the Southern California family entertainment centers — including the Universal Studios Hollywood (he loved the “Back to the Future” ride). He spent Thursday at Disneyland on the “Indiana Jones” ride.
A SURPRISE FOR “MARILU’S” staff Thursday; before the taping, Henner told ’em she is expecting her second child — son Nicky is only 10 months old and she is still nursing him, she told me. The theme of Thursday’s taped show –“Miracle Pregnancy.” She and husband/producer Rob Lieberman have been married five years. Earlier this week, Marilu appeared in Congress on behalf of legislation aimed at deadbeat dads — and moms. Monday, Henner’s ABC spec, “Abandoned and Deceived” deals with that subject. The busy Henner’s also been asked to star in the Ted Danson-produced “Fighting Back” MOW to start in May — she says she could handle it. “I worked in my last pregnancy until 10:30 p.m. the night before the baby was born!”… Roseanne keynotes the National Assn. of College B’casters meet Saturday at the Sheraton U. “I want to catch them before they’re ruined,” Rosie said … The ERAS Center raised $ 30,000 at their “Best of Beverly Hills” fashion show at the BevHilton with the creme de la creme of shops in BevHills and celebs modeling and Maty Monfort as commentator. Joni Berry received the Friends of the Children Award. Gloria Franks again chaired … Ruda Dauphin’s here talking to potential jurors and looking at pix for the 21st Deauville fest, Sept. 1-10. This is the first year the fest goes competitive. But it will, as always, be an all-American movie celebration — pix not yet seen in France. “It will change the complexion of the festival,” Dauphin admits. And 50-70 pix are anticipated … L.A. Shanti’s Hug Day, Friday, was such a success it will be an annual celebration … Tom Selleck winged in from the “Ruby Jean and Joe” Douglas, Ariz. location for tonight’s Museum of Radio-TV tribute to “Magnum, P.I.”
