In a move that had been expected (Variety, Nov. 21-27), the Carsey-Werner Co. has tapped former Viacom syndication president Joe Zaleski to head its recently revamped syndication operation and Viacom alum Frank Flanagan to head sales. The announcement is due this week.
Zaleski helped craft the off-net sales plan for “The Cosby Show,” which grossed a record sum of $1 billion-plus in syndication. Flanagan was Viacom’s senior VP and general sales manager of East Coast operations.
Following the recent resolution of lengthy negotiations with Paramount and its parent Viacom, C-W has gained the off-net rights to “Roseanne,” “The Cosby Show” and “A Different World.” The company’s big project will be off-net sales of “Grace Under Fire.”
