Okun NBC’s Top Lobbyist

Bob Okun has been named head lobbyist at NBC in Washington.

Okun, 35, is a former assistant to former Rep. Bob Michel (R-Ill.), the recently retired House Republican Leader.

Okun worked in the U.S. Dept. of Education during the Bush administration and has also had leadership stints with the House Republican Conference, the House Republican Policy Committee, and the House Republican Research Committee. NBC general counsel Rick Cotton called Okun a “high-caliber professional with a broad background in both policy and politics.”

Cotton praised Okun’s “rare combination of intellectual fire-power and skill in policy analysis as well as long experience in how the Congress and Washington work.” Okun will coordinate the Peacock web’s policy positions and will represent those views in Congress, at the FCC and at the White House.
