NAACP appeals ruling on Fox

The NAACP, as expected, has asked a federal appeals court here to overturn the Federal Communications Commission’s decision granting Fox Television Stations a waiver of its foreign ownership rules.

The Metropolitan Council of NAACP Branches and several affiliated parties and individuals said they will argue the FCC erroneously relied on unsubstantiated arguments in favor of waiving the rule’s 25% benchmark. It also claims the agency failed to consider any of the National Assn. for the Advancement of Colored People’s proposals of two less-restrictive alternatives to a permanent waiver.
