MAVENS ON THE MOVE

DONNA BRETT has been named VP of European regional sales for Warner Bros. Intl. Television Distribution (WBITD). Brett, who has served as sales director of Scandinavia and Benelux for WBITD since last year, will be responsible for the television distribution of Warner Bros, product to broadcast, pay, satellite and cable in Scandinavia, Benelux, Greece, Cyprus, South Africa and Russia. She will continue to be based in London. She will report to WBITD president Jeffrey Schlesinger.

Columbia TriStar Film Distributors Intl. (CTFDI) has tapped JOSEPHINE CHEN advertising/publicity manager for its Taiwan office. Chen was an assistant manager of film marketing and sales at ERA Group. Also, CTFD has appointed CHRISTINE MASSEY sales manager for its new office in New Zealand. Massey previously was with R.J . Moodabe & Co., which formerly distributed Col TriStar product in this territory.

CLIVE JONES has been promoted to chief executive of Carlton U.K. TV from his previous post as managing director of broadcasting. He replaces ANDY ALLAN, who is stepping aside to become director of programs. The move was prompted by the decision of Paul Jackson, the current managing director of productions, to leave the company in January to pursue other projects.

At the light entertainment division of the Grundy Organization, former “Sale of the Century” executive producer MICHAEL WHYTE has been appointed vice president of light entertainment, Australia, while GAVIN WOOD has been tapped as manager of the division in New Zealand. He replaces Paul Waterhouse, who is relocating to Melbourne as the Australian manager.

Dutch electronics conglom Philips has named ex-Sara Lee Corp. president/COO COR BOONSTRA to replace chairman JAN TIMMER when he steps down next October. Philips said it would ask its annual general meeting next March to approve Boonstra’s appointment and to make Timmer a member of the company’s advisory board from the same date.
