Tele-Communications Inc.’s pay cable service Encore Media has inked a 10-year affiliation deal with Continental Cablevision, the nation’s third-largest cable operator with 4 million subscribers.

The deal, both parties said, is expected to result in Continental rolling out the Encore and Starz! channels to the majority of Continental subscribers in the next four years. The deal also includes Encore’s thematic multiplex, which includes several channels of movies broken down by subject matter.

The deal, sources said, is fairly traditional. Encore gets a percentage of the subscriber revenues for the services and Continental’s cut will increase as the number of subscribers grows.
