President Clinton will be urged by Democrats to veto infohighway legislation that repeals cable rate regulation, Sen. Byron Dorgan (D-N.D.) said Feb. 6.
Dorgan’s comments came in response to draft legislation floated by Senate Commerce Committee chairman Larry Pressler (R-S.D.) that calls for an end to cable price controls within a year.
Dorgan said cable rate regulation is still supported by most Democrats. He also said he opposes a provision in Pressler’s draft lifting rules that limit foreign ownership of U.S. broadcast properties.
