Jim Burke, a former sales exec at KCBS, will return to Los Angeles as VP-general manager of Fox-owned KTTV, filling a position that’s been vacant for nearly a year.

Burke comes to the post from another Fox O&O, WTTG in Washington, D.C., where he’s been since May 1991, first as general sales manager and, from December 1993 on, as general manager.

The exec, who held various sales posts at KCBS from 1987-91, takes a post that’s been open since Tom Capra left the station a year ago. Fox TV Stations president and chief operating officer Mitchell Stern has been doubling since then as acting g.m. at KTTV.

KTTV has made some strides at 10 p.m. with news, spurred largely by the success of Fox Broadcasting primetime fare locally. No replacement has been named for Burke yet at Fox’s D.C. outlet.

Separately, Leslie Lyndon has been named VP of creative services at KTTV, overseeing marketing for the station. She’s been working at the Fox O&O as an independent promotions producer since September.
