SAMUEL DOUGLAS STEWART

Oscar-winning film editor Samuel Douglas Stewart died March 3 at the Motion Picture Hospital of Parkinson’s disease. He was 75.

Stewart’s film credits include “Games” (1967), “The Great Northfield Minnesota Raid” (1972), “The White Dawn” (1974), “The Shootist” (1976), Philip Kaufman’s 1978 remake of “Invasion of the Body Snatchers,” “Rough Cut” (1980), “Fast Walking” (1982), “Jinxed” (1982) and “The Right Stuff,” for which he and his co-editors – Glenn Farr, Lisa Fruchtman, Stephen A. Rotter and Tom Rolf – won an Oscar in 1983.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria; daughters Kim and Dawn; sons Shane and Cameron; and his sister, Kay.

Services were held at the North Hollywood Church of Religious Science.
