Turkish film producer and writer Onat Kutlar died Jan. 1 from injuries received in a bomb blast Dec. 30.
Kutlar had been in an Istanbul hospital since the explosion in the Hotel Marmara’s Cafe Opera. Responsibility for the bombing has been claimed by a radical Turkish Islamic group.
Kutlar produced Canan Gerede’s “Robert’s Movie” and was working on Gerede’s “Bergen” at the time of the explosion.
As a scriptwriter, Kutlar penned “A Season in Hakkari” and “Hazal.” He also founded the Turkish Cinematheque in 1964; he managed the org until 1975.
