Darcie Lubart Karol, a TV producer and on-air talent in Boston, Providence, New York and Houston, died of breast cancer Jan. 25 in Boston. She was 37.
A Boston native, she was a production assistant at Group W’s WBZ-TV while an undergraduate at Boston University, from which she graduated in 1979. She was associate producer of “The Baxters” at WCVB-TV, then became an executive producer of “PM Magazine” at WJAR-TV Providence. She moved to New York as reporter and associate producer on “PM Magazine” on WNEW-TV.
She was an anchor and co-producer of “Houston Afternoon” on KHOU-TV from 1981-1984. Returning to Boston, she was a reporter and producer on the PBS series “The New Tech Times,” and served as producer on the “Good Day Show” on WCVB-TV from 1985-1990.
After leaving television, she received a degree in human resource development from American U. and was a family therapist in Cambridge, Mass., from 1990 until her death.
Survived by her husband, Bill, a daughter, a son, her brother and her father.
