Anne Tasker, freelance British film publicist on films ranging from “Chariots of Fire” to “The Last Emperor,” died March 10 in London of complications following an operation for pancreatic cancer. She was 58.
In a career spanning 20 years and some 50 pix, Tasker worked with directors including Michelangelo Antonioni (“The Passenger”), Steven Spielberg (“Empire of the Sun”), Lindsay Anderson and Joseph Losey.
Most recently, she was working on Stephen Frears’ “Mary Reilly” and Franco Zeffirelli’s “Jane Eyre,” both shot in the U.K.
Tasker began in journalism and later moved to Spain with her then-husband Robin, who set up one of the first TV commercial and docu companies in Barcelona. Back in London, she entered the British film industry in the mid -’60s, starting as a production assistant on “The Dirty Dozen,” shot at MGM Studios.
