Sudsers Said To Clean Out The Indonesian Workplace

The Consumer Counseling & Protection Institute in Jakarta has recommended TV stations try to reschedule the airing of Latin American soap operas so that they do not coincide with normal working hours.

According to a study by the consumer agency, which conducted its survey last month, Latin American soap operas from “Kassandra” and “Maria Mercedes” to “Lady of the Rose” and “Cara Suoia” broadcast during the day have managed to “hypnotize” millions of Indonesian TV viewers, especially women, compelling them to stop their chores and watch the shows.

The agency added that even high-level officials and academicians often stop their activities to watch the telenovelas.
