Hong Kong-based Star TV has forged an alliance with Matahari Lintas Cakrawala, operator of the Indovision direct broadcast satellite service, to bring its new sub webs to Indonesia.
Under the deal, Indovision group, Indonesia’s only pay television license, will distribute all Star TV’s new digital channels throughout the country, starting in the middle of 1995.
The agreement came after Star TV extended its new programming service to Indonesia and the Philipines via the Indonesian-owned satellite Palapa B2P. Indonesia’s audiences could enjoy Star TV programs during daytime, but they have to use decoders at night.
Meanwhile, Star TV is envisaging an initial package of 15 channels designed specifically for audiences in Indonesia.
