A memo sent out midweek by Dan Slusser, senior VP and general manager of Universal City Studios, regarding the Labor Day weekend holiday is getting plenty of yuks in the black tower and around the studio.

The standard, run-of-the-mill memo noted that the studio would close on 2 p.m. on the Friday before the Labor Day weekend. The memo copied Lew Wasserman, Edgar Bronfman Jr., Ron Meyer and Howard Weitzman.

“Everyone is getting a kick out of this,” said one insider. “I guess the new guys don’t know they can leave early on Friday.” Added another: “You know, six months ago, no one would have even known the ‘Jeopardy!’ answer to why these four people were on the same memo.” Slusser was unavailable for comment.
