NBC has lined up heavy Republican artillery to smooth the way with the new GOP leadership in Congress, who are angry over the network’s attack on Fox’s alleged foreign ownership. The brass at 30 Rock apparently feels it needs more ammunition if it’s going to take on the network owned by the Republicans’ favorite media mogul, Rupert Murdoch.
Veteran Republican operative Charlie Black, a partner in the white-shoe D.C. public relations firm Black, Manafort, Stone & Kelly, was just hired by the Peacock web to glad-hand Newt and his minions in Congress. Bringing in Black follows the appointment of Bob Okun, an ex-aide to former House Republican leader Bob Michel (R-Ill), to head its D.C. office, which is quickly turning into a mini-GOP smoked-filled room.
