Andy Warhol lives!

Several incarnations of the late pop artist will be popping up on theater screens soon. David Bowie plays Warhol in painter-director Julian Schnabel’s biopic on dead painter Jean Michel Basquiat, “Build a Fort, Set It on Fire,” now in post-production. Jared Harris is Warhol in Mary Harron’s “I Shot Andy Warhol” for Samuel Goldwyn Co., which also has wrapped.

Now comes word that Crispin Glover, who cameo’d as Warhol in Oliver Stone’s “The Doors” two years ago, has taken the title role in “The Life and Death of Andy Warhol,” based on the 1989 book by Victor Bockris. Paul Heller (“My Left Foot”) and Rick Bloom are producing, with a script by Richard Linnett

“It’s the younger Andy,” says helmer Amos Poe (“Alphabet City”). “We’re going to do it Warhol style: Shoot it in 16mm and blow it up, very pop and underground.”

Miramax reportedly is looking at the $1.2 million project.
