Castle Rock partner Andrew Scheinman, who last year directed “Little Big League,” is being eyed to direct “Confessions of an Ivy League Bookmaker,” a book by Peter Alson that will be published by Crown. Castle Rock optioned the book for producer Fred Zollo.

The book is based on Alson’s own adventure. After getting out of college and struggling to make a living, the author was frustrated to find that a friend was living in high style. When he found out he was in the bookmaking business, the author himself joined the game; he eventually wound up getting arrested. Now he’s traded bookmaking for book writing, which can be equally lucrative, judging from the mid six-figure against high six-figure price CR is paying.

Zollo Prods, got a jump on the book because New York-based executive Jill Kearney, who runs the company’s office with Ruth Pomerance, is a longtime friend of the author. But there’s no evidence Kearney ever placed a bet with Alson – until now.
