New York State film commissioner Bruce Feinberg is getting a lot of grassroots support to continue in his post, even though his former employer, Democrat Mario Cuomo, has been supplanted by Republican Gov. George Pataki, and most likely, those Dems will be out of their Albany posts shortly.

Pataki’s said to be considering several possibilities, including Pat Kaufman, wife of Troma Films head Lloyd Kaufman. Another unrelated Kaufman, George, who heads Kaufman Astoria Studios, has been mobilizing support for Feinberg, whose deputy, Jane Brawley, will soon become city film commish Pat Scott’s deputy. Feinberg wouldn’t confirm this, but said, “It would be tremendous for NYC.”
