Rain Beneficiary

The rampant rainstorms in Hollywood have threatened to turn the town into a replica of the futuristic set of Universal’s logistically troubled Kevin Costner starrer “Waterworld.”

But the cloudbursts might have helped the pic, which, thanks to unpredictable weather and shooting on the water in Hawaii, is shaping up to be Hollywood’s most expensive film, with published cost estimates as high as $165 million. The “Waterworld” crew is back in Hollywood, shooting in a large tank outdoors on the Paramount lot, and sources said the rains helped fill it up. “It’s about the first time the film was helped by the weather,” said one wag.
