Journalist and aspiring producer Howard Blum has done it again. Sources said Blum’s baseball pitch “Run Down” has scored a mid-six-figure deal with producers Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer at Hollywood Pictures.
“Run Down,” a baseball story about a murder in a training camp, reportedly was pursued by several studios. But Blum chose Simpson & Bruckheimer, who are developing his nonfiction book “Out There,” about the search for extraterrestrials, with Pete Dexter (“Mulholland Falls”) writing the script.
The producers hope the detective protagonist of “Run Down” will become a franchise movie character.
