The home of Oliver Stone’s “Nixon” project might be up in the air (see story, page 14), but the director has begun putting together the supporting cast behind Anthony Hopkins, who’ll play the title character.
John Turturro may play Henry Kissinger; Bob Hoskins is being wooed to play J. Edgar Hoover; and James Woods is being sought to play H.R. Haldeman. As in Stone’s “JFK,” there will be numerous scene-stealing cameos, which will likely draw big-name players. Dan Aykroyd and Peter O’Toole also are in talks to play key roles.
The biggest surprise about Stone’s “Nixon” film, say sources, is how sympathetic the script is to Tricky Dick, the disgraced prexy who resigned because of the Watergate scandal,
