Morris Moving

After 29 years in the same New York headquarters, William Morris staffers were packing boxes March 3, for a March 6 move into more spacious quarters at 1325 Avenue of the Americas, between 53rd and 54th streets, where Warner Bros, and Orion both have office space. Though the William Morris name will be on the new building, and the two-floor space was specially designed for the agency, the ten-percenters got misty-eyed in saying goodbye to t he old haunt.

The famed Morris mailroom spawned Bernie Brillstein, Lenny Hirshan, David Geffen and most of the current New York-based Morris agents, as well as director-actor Tony Bill, who was licking stamps in the mailroom when he saw a memo for an audition for “Come Blow Your Horn.” He got the part in the 1963 film alongside Frank Sinatra and kissed his mail-sorting duties goodbye.
