Pix in the works profiling such U.S. presidents as Richard Nixon and George Washington might learn something from the presidential campaign waged by Disney for the Merchant Ivory film “Jefferson in Paris.”

To create demand, the film set up phone lines to handle advance ticket sales in a number of major cities. Apparently, results were strong in most U.S. cities, but the effort wasn’t a total success in Canada. Sources said a number was set up in Toronto, but that it received only two ticket orders.
