Don’t be surprised if some of the cast of Spike Lee’s “Girl Six” are rooting for the Knicks to be deep-sixed in the playoffs. Sources said the film’s shooting sked had to be altered to accommodate the other kind of shooting with which the director is obsessed.
Lee’s a die-hard Knicks fan who’s courtside for home and away playoff games. Cast and crew have been shooting from 6 a.m to 6 p.m. so Lee could be done in time for tip-off. Though he did miss one road game, Lee arranged to do one night shoot during the day so he could be at Madison Square Garden to torment Indiana Pacers star Reggie Miller.
The Knicks were in danger of being eliminated by the Pacers at press time, but the feeling is if Patrick Ewing and troupe go to the finals, Lee’s life will be dominated by hoops right through the completion of shooting “Six,” as the Searchlight pic is scheduled to wrap in two weeks, and the playoffs won’t be done until late June.
Another hoop-obsessed Hollywoodite, Jack Nicholson, can finally focus on choosing his next film now that his beloved Lakers have been eliminated.
