There’s a lot of script writing going on at Imagine Entertainment, where Steve Oedekerk (an uncredited writer on “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective”) and director Tom Shadyac are polishing Larry Gelbart’s $1 million rewrite of “The Nutty Professor,” which was initially penned by Barry Blaustein and David Sheffield.

And a rewrite has been slated for “The Chamber,” initially adapted by William Goldman from the John Grisham novel. While some sources contend that Imagine’s Ron Howard is wavering on whether to helm the project, for which Universal ponied up $3.75 million, the studio, Howard’s CAA reps and Imagine execs say it’s not so. “He’s planning to make ‘The Chamber,’ and while he’s in Houston finishing up ‘Apollo 13,’ he’s thinking about casting,” said Imagine co-topper Brian Grazer.
