Austin O’Brien, best known as the kid from “Last Action Hero,” has a pint-sized brother in the game. He’s Trever O’Brien, and he’s landed the lead opposite Anne Bancroft in Showtime’s “Homecoming,” in a deal made by Paradigm’s Chuck James… Permit this column to note the scope of the new deal made by gossip colleague Liz Smith. Although it seemed she was in a hard place when New York Newsday folded, she will stay in the Long Island and Queens edition, join the New York Post and also the Staten Island Advance, making her perhaps the first gossipist to land in three Gotham area dailies, and also making her possibly the best-paid print columnist working in newspapers, with her contracts running through the year 2002.
