Barbra Streisand has been painstakingly deciding since last fall between two movie projects: “The Normal Heart” and “The Mirror Has Two Faces.”
The word now is she’s making moves to play the plain-Jane-turned-beauty alongside Jeff Bridges in TriStar’s “Mirror” before “The Normal Heart, ” which is based on Larry Kramer’s chronicle of the start of AIDS activism.
Sources said “Mirror” is moving toward a summer or fall start date, with Streisand also directing. Screen legend Lauren Bacall is in talks to play Babs’ mother. Streisand and Bridges play NYU profs whose relationship changes when she has plastic surgery and becomes a diva.
Streisand will then jumpstart her beloved “Heart,” though it’s going to break Kramer’s heart to have to wait at least another year. Bacall, meanwhile, also has plans to return to the stage in a revival of “The Visit” for London’s West End.
