Diane Ladd’s directorial debut, “Mrs. Munck,” is finished, and though Showtime financed it and gets the cable and foreign rights, Ladd and producers Michael Taylor and Barbara Boyle are trying to arrange a theatrical release.

In the movie, based on a novel by Ella Lefflund, Ladd and her ex-husband Bruce Dern play ex-lovers. She blames him for the death of their child, and takes him out of a nursing home to emotionally torture him.

The pic’s been accepted for the Seattle Film Festival, where a Laura Dern film, “Down Came a Blackbird,” has also been accepted. It’s perhaps the first fest in which mother, father and daughter will be on display.
