Thesps Irene Worth and Peter Eyre are donating their services to Sharon Stage, the summer theater company currently in the midst of its inaugural season. The duo will perform a once-only, prior-to-London airing July 29 of “Chere Maitre,” a new play by Eyre and Barbara Neil, as a fund-raiser.
Worth and Eyre will play George Sand and Gustave Flaubert, the script being based on their letters. The performance is scheduled for 6 p.m., between matinee and evening performances of the Sharon Stage production of “The Robber Bridegroom.”
American actress Worth and British actor Eyre appeared together previously as mother and son in a London season of Ibsen’s “Ghosts,” Chekhov’s “The Seagull” and Shakespeare’s “Hamlet.” Eyre just completed the Broadway run of the Ralph Fiennes “Hamlet,” in which Eyre played Polonius.
